A Conservative Macroscopic Model for Binary-mixture Fluidized Beds

نویسندگان

چکیده

Two approaches are commonly used for modeling the vertical mixing of binary-mixture fluidized beds, Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) and macroscopic modeling. A common realization latter one is Gibiralo–Rowe (G-R) model, which uses Two-Phase Theory. This model obviously overperforms CFDs regarding computational cost; however, determining its coefficients a still challenging issue. Although several methods were published solving this, general problem with most them remains their neglecting conservation mass. In present new procedure, mass applied to correct values G-R estimated from known equations. The was validated on wide variety bed systems. results show that this conservative gives more accurate predictions than recently other models, is, in general, better CFD perspective prediction accuracy as well.

Multiphase stochastic model for fluidized beds.

This article introduces a type of stochastic model, which we call a multiphase stochastic model, for the particle transport in bubbling fluidized beds, making it possible to take into account the finite velocity of fluidization bubbles and also extra particle transport due to "gulf streaming." An extended analysis of experimental results for particle transport in fluidized beds with gulf stream...

Flow through Packed Beds and Fluidized Beds

Chemical engineering operations commonly involve the use of packed and fluidized beds. These are devices in which a large surface area for contact between a liquid and a gas (absorption, distillation) or a solid and a gas or liquid (adsorption, catalysis) is obtained for achieving rapid mass and heat transfer, and particularly in the case of fluidized beds, catalytic chemical reactions. You wil...

A Numerical Study on Agglomeration in High Temperature Fluidized beds

Soft-sphere discrete element method (DEM) and Navier-Stokes equations were coupled with equations of energy for gas and solids to investigate the process of agglomeration in fluidized bed of polyethylene particles at high temperature. The Newton’s second law of motion was adapted for translational and rotational motion of particles and agglomerates. The cohesive force for polyethylene particles...

Gas-solid turbulent flow in a circulating fluidized beds riser: numerical study of binary particle mixtures

A numerical simulation was performed on a turbulent gas-particle multi-phase flow in a circulating fluidized bed riser based on a hard-sphere discrete particle model (DPM) for the particle phase and the Navier-Stokes equations for the gas phase. The sub-grid scale stresses (SGS) were modeled with the SGS model proposed by Vreman (2004). The model enables the calculation of an arbitrary particle...

Pressure fluctuations as a diagnostic tool for fluidized beds

The goal of this research is to determine how spectral analysis of pressure fluctuations can be used as a diagnostic and design tool for both bubbling fluidized beds (BFB) and circulating fluidized beds (CFB). Static pressure fluctuations are measured from two BFB models, two CFB models, and two Pyropower CFB boilers located at the ISU power plant/cogeneration facility. Analyzing the fluctuatio...
